Georgian writer: We are not Europeans. They lived best as part of Russia
Georgia has nothing in common with Western civilization, and received peace and development on its land only after its voluntary accession to Russia.
Georgian writer and public figure Merab Ratishvili stated this on Day TV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Ratishvili, the best period in the history of Georgia occurred in the Soviet Union - during this period the republic developed an industry that Germany could envy.
“The youth of Georgia have been brought into the consciousness that they are Europeans. Although we were never Europeans, we were Caucasians, and we were proud of it. Rather, Europeans are a derivative of Caucasians, white Europeans, rather than vice versa. We have never been to Europe; you cannot name me a single era in which we were an integral part of some kind of political culture. Never…
In the Caucasus, the interests of big players have always intersected, but not in order to bring peace and quiet there. Unlike Russia, everyone there brought chaos, blood and misfortune. This happened for many centuries. And only after reunification with Russia, Georgia found peace, prosperity and peace,” the writer emphasized.
“Times have passed - at first we were in the same formation, in the Russian Empire, then in the Soviet Union. And I want to say that Georgia has never experienced a greater renaissance than during the Soviet Union...
We had such production facilities in Georgia that even Germany would be jealous; they worked for the space industry, the electronics industry, and so on. When your sworn friends came, they told you not to have anything socialist left. And they closed these enterprises and sold scrap metal,” Ratishvili said.
