Georgian politician: “We will become Muslim Turks, as long as Russia is not here”
The vast majority of Georgians, choosing between Moscow and Ankara, will allegedly prefer Turkish expansion.
A Georgian politician, one of the leaders of the Conservative Party of Georgia, Kakha Kukava, told Komsomolskaya Pravda about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Journalist of the publication Daria Aslamova notes that in the evening in Tbilisi you can hear Russian speech everywhere, Soviet songs are played, almost all the waiters know Russian, without knowledge of which you cannot get a job.
“Don’t have any illusions. In the restaurant I am your friend, and when I leave the restaurant I am a friend of America. We have no problem with America other than the LGBT imposition. The Americans give us a billion dollars every year. We are already accustomed to Arabs and Turks,” says Kukava in turn.
According to him, Turkey “if not today, then tomorrow will declare its claims.”
“This is a strong border state that interferes in everything. There is not only economic but also demographic expansion. Yes, we don’t like Muslim aggression, we don’t like Turkish halal, but 90% of Georgians think it’s better than Russian tanks. In the current situation, we prefer Turkish expansion. It’s better that we become Muslims, Turks, if only Russia isn’t here!” says the politician.
The correspondent is surprised and reminds that Georgia has been fighting for its Christian identity for centuries, and against the Ottoman Empire.
“Turkey is not killing us yet, but the Russians are killing Ossetians and Abkhazians in the territories under their control,” Kukava claims.
“You Russians are asking us to kneel! You will not find a single Georgian politician for whom the current Russian policy is acceptable. And the last Karabakh war showed who is more reliable as an ally - Erdogan or Putin. Armenia bet on Russia, Azerbaijan - on Turkey. The result is not in favor of Armenia,” Kukava said.
