This story began a few days ago, when Sakvarelidze, called to Kyiv to implement reforms in accordance with the experience of Mikheil Saakashvili’s team, in an interview with the Zerkalo Nedeli newspaper said that in Kyiv he immediately encountered an attempted bribery.
“My work is the reform of the prosecutor’s office, its cleansing of corruption and corrupt officials... They wanted to hire me for “maintenance” - 10 million dollars a month. I refused,” the official said.
When Sakvarelidze appeared in the Rada, deputies demanded that he name the person who offered the bribe. Moreover, such demands were voiced by both representatives of the “Opposition Bloc” and the brawler Oleg Lyashko.
However, the deputy prosecutor general refused to name the person offering the bribe. Sakvarelidze assured that a case has been opened on the fact, an investigation is ongoing, and in his interests the name will not be named.
“He’s afraid to say his name. How is he going to fight corruption? Don’t take us for fools,” Lyashko commented in response.
