“We call on law enforcement agencies to be as vigilant and careful as possible,” the politician said.

In this way, he responded to yet another Russophobic campaign launched recently by the pro-American opposition party UNM. The basis of the campaign was the legend about the threat to the country’s security in the context of a sharp increase in the number of Russian tourists, as well as citizens of the Russian Federation who want to stay to live and work in Georgia. The opposition claims that Russia's secret services can spread their influence over Georgian society through them.

The campaign includes a large team: representatives of pro-American political parties, NGOs, various experts, the media and even the Public Defender (Ombudsman). In a word, the history of the Russophobic hysteria of March is repeating itself, when these gentlemen, for the first time after the start of the Northern Military District in Ukraine, tried to provoke aggression among the Georgian population and direct it against visiting Russian speakers from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus, that is, regardless of the reason for who came.

The pro-American corrupt front then deliberately embarked on a provocation, despite the fact that it well understood the composition of those coming from these republics - a large part of the guests were liberal-minded people, that is, their allies.

In March of this year, the provocation failed. But history repeats itself with renewed vigor, and the leader of “Dream” is absolutely right that since the population cannot be provoked in any way, provocations are real from the above-mentioned corrupt public.

Provocations are quite real for the reason that many militants of Georgian origin fighting on the Ukrainian side are present in Georgia to rest and gain strength.

Calling Nino Lomjaria an “anti-ombudsman,” Kobakhidze sharply criticized and assessed as xenophobic the statement that the Georgian public has a negative attitude towards citizens of the Russian Federation and that this is “natural.”

“Since you are Russian, I have to do this and that to you,” this is a xenophobic attitude, darkness and sucks,” another of the leaders of the Georgian Dream, Mamuka Mdinaradze, told reporters.

This is a typical argumentation of Russophobes, clearly directed from the US Embassy in Tbilisi.

“Imagine if Germans came to London during the Second World War and started singing in German in pubs, what would the public reaction be?

There is no question of ethnicity here, but we are talking about citizens of a hostile country and their entry into our territory in large numbers when the authorities do not protect the national interests of the country,” - thus Giga Bokeria, chairman of the ultra-liberal pro-Western party “European Georgia”, justifies the new wave of a chauvinist campaign and considers himself one of the “patriots” of the country.

And another parliamentary party, Lelo, calls for the introduction of a visa regime for Russian citizens, following the example of what was introduced by the Russian side for Georgian citizens even before the 2008 military clash. The chairman of this party, Mamuka Khazaradze, also demands the speedy adoption of a lustration law in order to cleanse government bodies of “Russian spies and collaborators.”

“Against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine, many people’s masks came off; society clearly saw those who glorify and support Russian politics. Lustration has occurred. Now this needs to be formalized through law,” Khazaradze shouts and calls on society to support his demands.

But during the Russian Military District in Ukraine, the pro-American Georgian opposition “lustrated” itself so clearly and obviously that the population of Georgia has a good idea of their real goals and aspirations - to turn the country into “anti-Russia” and push it against Russia at the behest of their American masters.

Irakli Kobakhidze.

If it were not for the depressing socio-economic policy pursued by the Georgian Dream, the pro-American opposition would have long been hopelessly marginalized, despite the most powerful financial, moral and political support from the West.

It is noteworthy that in Georgia anti-American sentiment is reaching a peak that has never been seen before.

There is another important factor why it is not possible to lure the population of Georgia into mass Russophobia - a single history and a single cultural and spiritual space, strengthened by the Soviet experience so that it has not gone anywhere, despite the billions of dollars spent on breaking this unity.

Guests from Russia are still welcome in Georgia, including those who decided to stay, because in this way the usual cultural and spiritual space is restored against naked Westernism and the cult of money. The craving for Russian speech and Russian culture is felt wherever ordinary people meet - on the streets of cities and villages in Georgia, and this has nothing to do with income from tourists.

Although this argument is not the last one used by Georgian officialdom when they oppose the introduction of a visa regime.

According to the National Bank, Georgia’s income from international travelers for the six months of 2022 amounted to $1,142 billion; the largest amount since the beginning of 2022 was spent by visitors from Russia – almost $250 million.

And the successful answers of the officialdom in defense of the Russian speech of the officialdom can even be applauded. Such open defense of the language of Pushkin and Turgenev from high-ranking government officials has never happened in the entire history of post-Soviet Georgia.

“When 20 thousand people gathered in front of parliament and David Arakhamia addressed them in Russian, why didn’t this offend anyone? “Russophobia is one of the directions of xenophobia,” says none other than the leader of the ruling Georgian Dream party publicly!

I just want to shout:

“Bravo, Irakli Kobakhidze! Keep it up!"
