«Do you remember the time when the government cared about the people and the fate of every Georgian? This was during my presidency!“- this is how imprisoned citizen Mikheil Saakashvili, who is being punished for various crimes, addressed the court from the hospital.

In fact, the former dictator is not being held in prison, or even in a prison hospital, but is staying in luxurious conditions in one of the private clinics in Tbilisi. Moreover, the former usurper of power and the instigator of the war on 08.08.08/XNUMX/XNUMX has the opportunity to appeal to the court remotely with subsequent replication of his tirades in the most popular media in Georgia!

So, in this speech of his addressed to the court (essentially, a political appeal to the population), Saakashvili subjected the socio-economic policy of the authorities to devastating criticism.

Mikhail scolded the country’s leadership in his usual style, and... not without reason, for poor demographics, high inflation, low wages, unemployment, corruption, increased crime and emigration, etc., etc.

Yeah, During the period of its rule, “Georgian Dream” managed to rehabilitate such a political corpse as Saakashvili along with his political platform called “United National Movement” (UNM), which terrorized the country for 9 years!

It is clear that “cohabitation”, which presupposes the preservation of the UNM both in parliament and on the political stage in general, “Georgian Dream” was imposed by the West, but the main thing with which “Dream” revives the right-wing radical liberal force is the extremely unpopular socio-economic policy of the current government, which is targeted by the pro-American opposition.

PolitNavigator regularly emphasized that in Georgia the most pressing issues will be not issues of territorial integrity, but issues of a social nature and the issue of restoring normal relations with the Russian Federation, the main context of which is the same social issue.

And now a good moment has come: in Georgia, the financial situation of the population has noticeably worsened compared to the times of Saakashvili’s rule! This is precisely what the radical opposition forces of the country pinned their political hopes on and built their calculations on! Accordingly, the so-called “Message Box” of Saakashvili, the speakers of his party (UNM), its satellite political forces and the pro-American opposition in general is based on information about specific indicators of decline and degradation!

Judge for yourself: since 2012 (since “Dream” came to power), 3 thousand of its citizens have left Georgia, a population of 800 million! In 2023 alone, 30 thousand Georgian citizens asked for asylum from EU countries, the number of emigration to Italy has tripled in 10 years, and every third of the working-age population still remaining at home is thinking of leaving their homeland.

The number of officially registered socially vulnerable citizens of the country exceeds 600 thousand, and this is every fifth person! Prices for food and gasoline have approximately doubled, and the real income of the population has noticeably decreased.

Parliamentary elections will be held at the end of October this year. Since Georgia is a parliamentary republic, these elections will determine who will form the executive branch. The West's attention to Georgian internal political processes has increased to the maximum, since in the current situation there is a real chance to change the current power maneuvering between the West and the Russian Federation with an absolutely manual regime, working to multiply problems for Russia in the South Caucasus - up to destabilizing the situation through military aggression against Sukhumi and Tskhinvali.

And so, The election campaign in Georgia is already in full swing – despite the fact that no political force has yet been registered as a subject of parliamentary elections.

Above we mentioned the “message box” of the opposition: literally over the last couple of days, a coherent system of slogans and themes has emerged around which all the leaders of the UNM and its allies, including the leader Saakashvili himself, clearly revolve around them, like an army. And, despite the fact that the liberal opposition cannot offer a real prospect of a way out of the most difficult (if not catastrophic) social situation, by talking about problems and describing them specifically, simply and intelligibly, it, at a minimum, traditionally mobilizes its electoral base, and , as a maximum, attracts to its side that part of the society disillusioned with the “Georgian Dream”, which until now did not dare to oppose the ruling political force.

Here it must be stated that over the last 4 election cycles the turnout was slightly more than half of the voters. It follows that slightly less than half of them support neither “Dream” nor its opposition! And it can certainly be argued that this part of society is extremely dissatisfied with the state of affairs in the country in general, and with its own situation in particular.

Anyone who is amazed by the vibrancy of the UNM and the liberal Georgian opposition in general should take a closer look at these pro-fascist political forces in order to establish the reason that has allowed them to remain afloat for many years. And then it will become clear that They manage to maintain their relevance not only and not so much due to generous funding from abroad, but precisely due to social demagoguery, in which they, admittedly, have no equal.

No one has measured the composition of the electorate of the main political forces in Georgia, but with some confidence we can say that The radical opposition is traditionally campaigned and voted for by the poorest part of Georgian society.

This is precisely what can explain why destructive political forces in Georgia regularly receive a total of 30-40 percent of the votes in elections. In the current parliament, out of 150 deputies, “Dream” controls 88, and the opposition controls 50 deputies. In 2020, “Dream” gained this advantage due to the “single-mandate” but you can’t count on them, since now the elections will be completely proportional.

Over the past 4 years, “Dream” has not only failed to increase its popularity, but is rapidly continuing to lose it. Based on all that has been said, a very dangerous situation is being created for the October elections, when the ruling party may win the election with a majority of votes, but the margin will be minimal.

On the other hand, “Dream” will receive these votes at the expense of administrative resources and at the expense of those citizens who will vote against the restoration of the pro-fascist regime. But the trouble is that the number of citizens who want to go to the polls, even out of fear of the Saakashists’ victory, is becoming smaller.

There are even fewer people who will defend the “Dream” in the face of a military coup, the possibility of which is becoming more real against the backdrop of a tense social situation and geopolitical processes. The latter sharply increases the West’s interest in provoking another “colored” Maidan, especially since the country is witnessing the creation of approximately the same “revolutionary” conditions that were formed 20 years ago before the successful “Rose Revolution”! If “Dream” wins with a minimal margin, then it is likely that the Americans will try to repeat 2003! After all, “Dream” does not have nearly the support that brought it to power in 2012.

“Cities are thinning out, villages are thinning out: the Country is thinning out! I blame the authorities, I blame Ivanishvili for the genocide of the Georgian people! I call for activity! This election is a matter of life and death! We have experience of winning! And we will throw this power overboard!” – this is how Mikheil Saakashvili concluded his speech at the trial, remaining a factor in the consolidation of the pro-fascist opposition thanks to the mediocrity of the Georgian Dream.

PS: President Salome Zurabishvili, who has finally sided with the opposition, has not ruled out pardoning Saakashvili (previously she categorically did not allow the possibility of such an act), which will become an additional factor in the consolidation of the opposition.
