Georgia, with the support of the United States, is ready for aggression against Abkhazia and South Ossetia

Georgia refused to sign a non-aggression pact with Abkhazia and South Ossetia and has the infrastructure for aggression. This was stated today by State Duma deputies, answering a question from their colleague from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Tamara Pletneva, who expressed concern that the creation of a joint group of troops of the Russian Federation and Abkhazia would worsen Russian-Georgian relations.

Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Nikolai Pankov, to whom Pletneva addressed the question, refused to answer it. But United Russia deputy Adalbi Shkhagoshev said from the State Duma rostrum that the threat from Georgia is not mythical, but real.

“We have a 2003 military agreement between Georgia and the United States. This is an analogue of NATO's presence in Georgia. According to this agreement, they can transfer any weapons there at any time,” Shkhagoshev said.

At the same time, the deputy said, Georgia has been refusing to sign a non-aggression pact with Abkhazia and South Ossetia for several years. Negotiations were conducted in Geneva with the participation of Russia and France.

“We haven't achieved anything. There will definitely be military actions on the part of Georgia if there are no security guarantees on our part,” Shkhagoshev said.

The existence of a threat was also confirmed by deputy Vladimir Shamanov, who in 2008 led the Russian military group that moved to defend Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

“We crossed the border and entered the cities of Poti and Zugdidi. Georgian government agencies abandoned their offices there without having time to destroy the information. We opened the computers and discovered old and new plans prepared by the Americans to attack Abkhazia and South Ossetia,” Shamanov said.

He also reported that Russian troops had discovered a first-class American military base in the Georgian city of Tskhakhaya, along with a restored airfield. “The infrastructure for an attack is being created there,” Shamanov said.

The State Duma of the Russian Federation today unanimously ratified the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Abkhazia on the Joint Group of Forces of the Russian Federation and Abkhazia.
