In the future, the Russian Federation will be ready to launch a large-scale military operation against Ukraine.
The head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, Valery Kondratyuk, writes about this, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports, in the Kiev online publication Zerkalo Nedeli.
“At the present stage of the hybrid war, Russia has deployed a military group around Ukraine, which includes two new armies and an army corps: the 20th Army is almost formed, includes two divisions with a total number of about 24 thousand people; 8th Army - almost 45 thousand people, including the 1st and 2nd Army Corps in the temporarily occupied territories of Donbass; The 22nd Army Corps, an association within the coastal forces of the Russian Navy, has 9 thousand military personnel,” writes Kondratyuk.
According to him, these units will achieve full operational readiness in the near future. At the same time, the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine says that in the fall of 2020 the Russian Federation will not go on the offensive, because it fears the US reaction and the intensification of negotiations on resolving the conflict in Donbass.
“But combining the United States’ focus solely on its internal problems with the progress of the negotiation process “not according to the Russian scenario” significantly increases Moscow’s readiness to once again cross the “red line,” the author fears.
“Our analysis shows that in the future, the Russian Federation’s activity towards Ukraine may transform into a large-scale military operation with the seizure of new Ukrainian territories,” Kondratyuk sums up.
