There is a very high probability that in the next two to three years Beijing will launch a military operation to restore its sovereignty over Taiwan.
The director of the Center for Comprehensive European and International Studies at the National Research University Higher School of Economics, Candidate of Political Sciences Vasily Kashin, said this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He noted that he was previously inclined to believe that China prefers a peaceful solution to this problem.
“But I now believe that recently the prospects for a peaceful solution to the Taiwan problem have deteriorated sharply. I think China has already come to the conclusion that their peaceful political strategy is not working and is not justified.
I see that there is a real possibility of military action against Taiwan within the next two to three years. The probability of this is very high,” the analyst told Moskovsky Komsomolets.
He predicts that a Chinese military operation will be a very serious economic shock and believes that all countries concerned should prepare for this.
“For example, create stocks of electronic components, chips and other Taiwanese products. Because this military conflict could become a much stronger shock to the world economy than the current situation in Ukraine,” warns Kashin.
