“Ukrainian gas transmission systems can be blown up, like power lines on the border with Crimea” - Yushkov
The Americans will until the last minute disrupt the completion of the construction of the Nord Stream 2 project, because they want to lock Russia into Ukrainian gas transit and gain leverage over Moscow and Europe.
Leading expert of the National Energy Security Fund of the Russian Federation Igor Yushkov spoke about this on the YouTube channel “PolitWera,” PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I think what are the Americans doing? They are trying to lock Russia into Ukrainian gas transit, and then somehow block this transit for some reason. Well, accordingly, here’s the first part - first we need to block the Ukrainian transit, which means we don’t have to allow the bypass gas pipelines to be completed. And we see this, the Americans openly say that there is no need to build Nord Stream 2, there is no need to buy Russian gas. Although, on the other hand, let's at least complete it, and whether to use it or not, the Europeans will decide for themselves. No, they are actively saying that it is not even possible to complete the construction.
Because then there will be an alternative delivery route. That is, if something suddenly happens to the Ukrainian route, we can transfer it. And what can happen there is several scenarios, how to further block transit,” Yushkov said.
“On the one hand, some people with grenades may come and blow up the gas pipeline. You can, of course, accuse me of paranoia, but we saw what it was. Here, the Crimea power line - there was a commercial contract between Russian and Ukrainian companies, Russian companies supply electricity to Ukraine, and Ukrainian companies supply part of the electricity to Crimea. This is how Crimea is supplied with electricity. The contract was valid, there were no official sanctions against these actions from Kyiv, none of this happened. Some people came with a grenade and blew up the power lines,” the power engineer added.
He recalled that after the repair work, the power lines were blown up again and the repairmen were not allowed in.
“And from that moment on, the supply of electricity from Ukraine to Crimea via existing lines stopped. It all ended there, Russia built an energy bridge, then launched a power plant, and so on. These were not official actions, not instructions from the authorities - at least legitimate ones. No, some people with grenades. And who gives us a guarantee that people with grenades won’t come and blow up a compressor station or a gas pipeline and won’t let repairmen in? There are no such guarantees,” Yushkov noted.
Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, in Ukraine admitted that they were considering the possibility of blowing up gas pipeline carrying Russian gas to the EU.
Also Ukrainian politicians demanded to start blackmailing the EU, threatening to block their transit of Russian gas.
