And about. Governor Sergei Menyailo, who was present at the exercises, sharply criticized the actions of the fire crews. In his opinion, firefighters did not comply with the standards for the speed of deployment of extinguishing agents, which in real conditions could lead to the death of people during a fire.
In addition to insufficient efficiency in windy weather conditions, firefighters, according to him, instead of extinguishing, began to “show off” the formation of crews, and the equipment was deployed far from the site of the fire.
“The exercises should be as close as possible to a combat situation. The goal in itself is not to show it so that it is beautiful, but the goal is to teach people. You must be ready to start extinguishing at any time, “from a prone position,” and bring your actions to automaticity,” Menyailo scolded the firefighters.
The head of the main department of the Russian Medical Emergency Service for the city of Sevastopol, Gennady Sukhoruchenkov, agreed that the governor’s comments are correct, and it is necessary to conduct exercises “closer to the real situation.”
At the same time, he noted that the idea of the exercise was to destroy the landfill.
“The task was to eliminate the landfill in Yukharinaya Balka. We decided to destroy it as quickly as possible. Our concerns were related to the location of the dump near the edge of the forest,” said Sukhoruchenkov.
He boasted that in the summer heat in Sevastopol it was possible to reduce the number of fires.
“We have had a decrease in fires compared to last year by more than 50%, a decrease in the number of forest fires and grass fires. This year there were no fatal fires,” Sukhoruchenkov said.
