Sevastopol, August 13 (Navigator, Yuri Kovalchuk) – The actions of the acting governor of Sevastopol Sergei Menyailo will be checked for illegal campaigning, the Kommersant newspaper reports.

Representatives of one of the parties addressed the regional election commission with a corresponding demand yesterday. Menyailo is now running for the Legislative Assembly of Sevastopol on the United Russia list.
United Russia's competitors discovered the violation on August 11 in a series of billboards with images of the acting governor that appeared on the streets of Sevastopol. These posters announce a competition for the “best yard”, the winners of which are promised children’s playgrounds “as a gift”. The billboards are accompanied by the slogan: “For a happy childhood in United Russia!” This advertising material does not have any indication that it was paid for from the relevant election fund, although in essence it is propaganda.
Sergei Menyailo’s press secretary, Igor Dolgopolov, assured the newspaper that there were “no advertisements” on the billboards, and the governor acted “not as a candidate for deputy,” but “as a mayor.”
