Deputy head of the presidential administration Valery Chaly spoke about this on Channel 5.
“On Wednesday night there was another scenario where there was an attempt, in fact, to break through the Kharkov region with those prohibited things, I mean escorting Russians. The Red Cross did not accept this,” Chaly said. According to him, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko had an emergency meeting with Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Alexander Turchynov and heads of law enforcement agencies. Chaly noted that “telephone diplomacy” worked, so they managed to avoid breaking the border.
“Many countries advise us to find a way not to set ourselves up. They think it's a trap. If Ukraine closes itself and says that we will not accept, then this is a trap, followed by a full-scale conflict. Then this assistance will come in a completely different way - with peacekeepers, the so-called armed convoy,” Chaly said.
As Navigator reported, earlier in Kyiv they stated that they did not know where the humanitarian convoy from Russia was located.
