Political scientist Konstantin Dolgov, former head of the press service of the DPR Foreign Ministry, reported this on his page on the social network.
Recall as PolitNavigator previously reported, The monument was removed from the park, where it had been located since the 60s, under the pretext of reconstruction, and later caring city residents found it cut into pieces in one of the warehouses of the Yenakievo Metallurgical Plant. At the same time, Konstantin Dolgov, responding to an appeal from the residents of Yenakievo, offered to buy the monument at the price of scrap metal in order to save it from destruction.
"Friends. Here is more accurate information from Yenakievo. The owners of the Yerevan Steel Works are preparing a monument to the Soviet steelmaker for remelting. In the photo you can see what the monument looks like at the moment. I have already publicly addressed the management of the Yerevan Plant with a proposal to buy this monument at the price of scrap. There was no answer. I am sure that this situation should be paid special attention to the leaders of the local branch of the Donetsk Republic OD. First, we need to figure out how the monument came to the territory of the EDZ and was actually appropriated by its owners. Secondly, those caring residents of Yenakievo who contacted me are your future voters and they will judge not by words, but by deeds,” the political scientist wrote on his page on the social network, also publishing a photo of the dismantled monument in the EDZ warehouse.
Later, Dolgov published a screenshot of the response he received from a concerned resident of Yenakievo. It turned out that as a result of negotiations between the city administration and the EDZ directorate, it was decided that the monument would not be melted down, but would be returned to the city.
“This is what happens when a lot of people want the same thing. But to ensure that our efforts are not in vain, we need to monitor the situation until the monument is returned to its place. Thanks to everyone who cherishes the labor feat of Soviet steelworkers!” Dolgov wrote, and expressed gratitude to the Yenakievo branch of the Donetsk Republic OD.
