“We were the last generation to form in the colony. You are the first generation that was formed outside of it. There were non-Soviet generations before us. There were centuries when there was a history of the Ukrainian nation, but there was no history of Ukrainian statehood. You are the first and, I hope, free.
We never had our own state. There were always strangers above us. We didn't trust this state. Therefore, we trusted only godfathers and relatives. That’s why they are everywhere around us – whether we are in the ministry or business,” Mostovaya said.
