Both Democrats and Republicans will take revenge on Ukraine
Nothing good awaits Ukraine, regardless of who wins the US presidential election next year.
This opinion was expressed by political strategist Sergei Gaidai in a commentary to the Kyiv magazine “Novoye Vremya”, assessing the published transcript of a telephone conversation between US President Donald Trump and the head of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky.
“Only a person who does not know political rules can talk the way Zelensky talked to Trump. Any conversation can become public knowledge if you speak at this level. In such conversations, it is better to avoid any criticism in principle. If you criticize European leaders, then European leaders will know about it,” the publication’s interlocutor said.
At the same time, he admits that there is no one inside Ukraine to cause serious problems for Zelensky, since voters still like him, but these problems, the expert says, will begin much later if life does not radically change for the better.
“Regarding Trump’s suspension of military aid payments to Ukraine in the amount of $400 million: Ukraine will generally rake in the most for this. If earlier Zelensky behaved in such a way as to win Trump’s loyalty, now he will not be able to win it, because it is not profitable for Trump to demonstrate this, since he is suspected of corruption with the Ukrainian government. In addition, the democrats will take revenge on the current government. Therefore, no matter who wins the presidential election in the United States—Biden or Trump—Ukraine has lost greatly from this scandal, where it acted as a time bomb,” Gaidai sums up.
As PolitNavigator reported, in a conversation with Trump, Zelensky made unflattering statements to the leaders of Germany and France.
At the same time, experts come to the conclusion that the bipartisan The American consensus on Ukraine is dead.
