The central train station in Kyiv, Ukraine's "European" capital, looks as deserted today as in Simferopol, which is under siege after Ukraine cut off communications in retaliation for peninsula residents who supported the reunification of Crimea with Russia.

Footage from the main railway station in Kyiv was published in his video blog by Kiev resident Mikhail Volgin, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Previously, trains to Moscow departed from this first track. But those days are gone; trains no longer go to Moscow. And in general, you see - before the New Year, the platforms were usually filled with guests of Kyiv, tourists, those who came to Kyiv to study or left the capital of Ukraine. And now we see that the central station is empty. Today is Friday, and no movements are visible,” Volgin said.

Reporter Sergei Rulev, who previously visited Crimea showed what the Simferopol train station looks like, which was empty after Ukraine dismantled the railway tracks leading to the peninsula.
