“And this is horror”: Ukrainian youth are fleeing the country from police brutality
Ukrainian youth are thinking about emigrating from their country because they see how rotten both the law enforcement system and the state as a whole are.
Ukrainian media expert Alexey Kovzhun stated this on air on the TSN TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“When young people see the state interface, relatively speaking, in Podol in Kyiv: “Good evening, what’s in your pockets?” When they know that a police officer can plant a bag of marijuana on them and then extort money from their parents. And if you hit someone while drunk, you can settle it for money. Thus, the law enforcement system acts as the interface of the state.
What do we tell young people? What can you decide that the state is corrupt, evil, wishes you harm and wants to get something off you. I understand young people who have encountered police brutality or the judicial system will think about emigrating, and this is terrible. This is a road to nowhere,” Kovzhun said.
Let us recall that earlier in Kyiv they stated that the reforms of the Ukrainian army and police are of an external nature, while both the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ministry of Internal Affairs systems remain dysfunctional and corrupt.
