Both gas and coal are already too expensive for Ukrainians
Due to constantly increasing tariffs for gas and electricity, residents of Ukrainian villages are switching to heating with wood and peat. Energy market expert Dmitry Marunich spoke about this on the UkrNet Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, despite the fact that gas has already risen in price by 23,5% since November 1, Ukrainians will face a threefold increase in the price of electricity.
“I personally saw these examples - Kiev region, villages with gas, people have already crossed over. Gas is expensive now and will become even more expensive. They put firewood, cut this firewood. Coal is also expensive, there is also a problem with coal... Gas is becoming more expensive, you see what is happening. Peat is becoming profitable again. Electricity will also become more expensive. It will rise in price and may rise in price very significantly. After the introduction of the electric energy market, there are all the prerequisites for the price to increase; this price will already be three times the current tariff,” Marunich said.
