And rightly so: Yulia was ruined by her bet on Russophobia
During the election campaign, Yulia Tymoshenko relied on the same agenda of Russophobia that Petro Poroshenko exploited, which is why the “gas princess” was unable to achieve a convincing advantage over the incumbent president.
Andrei Manchuk, editor-in-chief of the Liva portal, discusses this in his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“At Tymoshenko’s headquarters they will shout loudly about falsifications. And they, of course, were – in that necessary and sufficient volume, which made it possible not to miss her in the third round.
But it is absolutely obvious that the defeat in these elections is not so much to blame for Poroshenko’s political strategists, but rather for Yulia Vladimirovna’s even more incompetent and failed team, which itself derailed her election campaign.
Just six months ago, Tymoshenko was the sole favorite in the future elections, and Zelensky’s nomination was considered by the public as a funny anecdote. However, the environment of the “servant of the people” responded quite sensitively to the request for change, which a society tired of robbery and war was simply shouting about. While candidate Yu offered the country her own version of the chauvinistic triad “Army-Viramova”, alienating a huge mass of people who saw in her the same mortally annoying Poroshenko - only with a braid and a skirt.
It got to the point of being funny - when a nationalist deputy from the Tymoshenko faction was trying to get rid of the Nazis who were attacking her election rally and who were serving the president’s campaign from the police. And one of its main political strategists - a former lackey of Medvedchuk and Azarov - personally participated in the persecution of opponents of the war - so that, God forbid, the nationalists would not remember his regional past.
Of course, opposition-minded voters saw what Tymoshenko’s entourage represented. And they deservedly left her behind – hoping for the post of prime minister and negotiating an almost inevitable alliance with Zelensky. Cowardice, conformism and opportunism were punished - which cannot but rejoice in the current situation,” Manchuk concluded.
