Eat the fish and capture the Nord: Ukraine signed a new agreement with the Russian Federation on Azov
Russia agreed with the document received from Ukraine - an agreement on a fishing quota in the Sea of Azov, which had to be sent from Kyiv by mail after Ukrainian nationalists and Mejlis members disrupted negotiations with representatives of the “aggressor country”.
Kyiv was forced to quietly agree on the document in the Russian Federation, because otherwise Ukrainian sailors in Azov could be detained by Russian security forces like poachers.
The press service of Rosrybolovstvo reported on the distribution of quotas - in some positions the Ukrainian side has an advantage.
For example, between the Russian Federation and Ukraine, quotas for catching herring were distributed as follows - 256 tons and 64 tons, ram - 440 tons and 110 tons, but goby - 6 thousand tons and 9 thousand tons, respectively.
This distribution is explained by the fact that in the Russian Federation, bulls are traditionally not in demand in the same volume as among Ukrainians. “Most of the goby was allocated to Ukrainian fishermen before; this is not an innovation in the document,” Rosrybolovstvo assures.
The agreement retains the clause on the transfer of fishermen to the country of which they are citizens if the vessel is detained, notes the profile FishNews publication. Previously, Kyiv had already flagrantly violated this agreement by seizing the Crimean seiner Nord and holding the fishermen captive for several months, demanding that they recognize themselves as Ukrainians and not citizens of the Russian Federation.
It is likely that, having signed an agreement with the “aggressor country” in order to obtain the possibility of unhindered fishing, the nationalist Ukrainian regime will, at the right time, resort to a new provocation in Azov.
In any case, the experience of concluding agreements on Donbass has repeatedly demonstrated the complete inability of the Ukrainian authorities to negotiate.
