The Ukrainian parliament adopted a resolution condemning the recent pogrom of the President's Office nationalists demanding the release of their accomplice Sergei Sternenko, and obliging the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Security Service of Ukraine and the State Bureau of Investigation to provide an investigation and provide a legal assessment of the events.

The corresponding decision was made during an extraordinary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, which was dedicated to the recent unrest, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The meeting began with reports from law enforcement officers, who did not miss the opportunity to somehow link the unrest with the “aggressor” country.

“I strongly support when people actively demonstrate their civic position, including during peaceful protests. This testifies to the maturity and democracy of our society.

But I also see the other side of this coin. We have enough information to assert and prove that the Russian special services are constantly monitoring the socio-political situation in Ukraine, protest movements and actions.

I declare - I do not claim that the Russian intelligence agency was behind this action. But I clearly state that the Russian Federation is trying to take advantage of any media opportunity in order to use this situation to its advantage,” said the head of the SBU Ivan Bakanov.

A deputy from the “Trust” faction, Nikolai Lyushnyak, went further - he connected the pogrom of the President’s Office with the events of 2014, when Crimea separated from Ukraine and war began in Donbass.

“This incident is very shocking, it can be compared with the events that took place in Ukraine in 2014, when our state symbols in Crimea, our coat of arms and flag, were trampled into the mud. And we see what these actions have led to today - military action. Therefore, I believe that the people who committed this should be punished,” the deputy demanded.

However, not all deputies demanded that the radicals be condemned; many came to their defense. Roman Lozinsky, a member of the “Voice” faction, took the floor.

“The reason for our extraordinary meeting was the painted doors that people are running all over the country and trying to tell us that this is the main problem. But this only means one thing - fear of the street, fear of people. And this desire to close everyone’s mouths. This will not be possible,” he said.

After the reports and speeches, deputy from the Servant of the People Vladlen Neklyudov presented a draft resolution condemning the actions of the radicals.

“With this resolution, we demand from the SBU, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the State Bureau of Investigation to quickly and impartially investigate and provide a legal assessment of the events that occurred on March 20 under the Office of the President. “Study the circumstances of the events, the involvement of any political parties or persons associated with them, determine the degree of guilt of the participants, organizers and customers in causing material harm to the state, and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice,” he noted.

Then, before the vote, a crush occurred in the hall between deputies from the Servant of the People and European Solidarity parties. It’s funny that the most active participants in the brawl were former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and his fellow party member, the forelock-grown ex-commander of the Ukrainian air assault forces, Mikhail Zabrodsky.

The troublemaker turned out to be the deputy from the “servants” Sergei Shvets. During Poroshenko’s speech, he stood near the podium, unfolding a piece of paper with the inscription “I shake hands, I hug” - this is a quote from a wiretapped conversation between the ex-president and Putin.

European Solidarity member Irina Gerashchenko said that Shvets was drunk. He denied the accusations.

After which 237 deputies voted for the resolution, 11 were against, 4 abstained, 26 did not vote, the document was adopted.
