“The countries of the Middle East are traditionally key markets for Ukrainian grain, and this season there is an increase in wheat supplies in this direction, even despite high competition from Russia. Thus, according to the results of July-October 2017-2018, Ukraine exported 829,1 thousand tons of wheat to the countries of the Middle East, which is 46% higher than the same period of the previous season (569,4 thousand tons),” the report says.
According to the press service, during the reporting period, the Middle East region became the leader in the purchase of all grain crops from Ukraine with a share of 23% of total exports. In general, Middle Eastern countries imported about 3,2 million tons of Ukrainian grain in July-October this year. It is noted that for the same period of 2016-2017, this region was in second position among importers of domestic grains with a share of 22%, slightly inferior to the countries of North Africa (24%).
This year, according to experts, North Africa is in third position in terms of this indicator with a share of 15% of the total volume of grain supplies from Ukraine.
