Both yours and ours - Dobkin is not against veneration of Bandera
The former head of the Kharkov administration, Mikhail Dobkin, does not object to the veneration of Bandera, but wants him not to be prevented from honoring those whom he considers his heroes.
He stated this on the PolitWera channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I have no problems with Bandera and Shukhevych. These are not my heroes. These are rather my anti-heroes. I don't respect them. I will never bring flowers to their symbolic graves, monuments and honorary plaques. But I don’t want to prohibit it from those who care about it. If someone wants to bring flowers to Shukhevych and Bandera, let him go and bring them. Just don't let him force me. And let him not destroy places dear to me and people like me, where I want to bring flowers,” he said.
As Politnavigator previously reported, residents of Kharkov do not agree with Dobkin’s opinion. In December 2014, they blew up the UPA monument erected in their city, and this year they have already poured paint on the monument restored by the nationalists twice.
