“Go to the Russians” – Ukrainian consulates abroad refuse to accept residents of Donbass
Ukrainian consulates abroad refuse to accept their citizens from Donbass, saying that they need to contact Russian embassies.
Aleksey Zaitsev, Deputy Spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated this during a press conference, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“One gets the impression that the Ukrainian leadership has completely abandoned Donbass and its inhabitants.
Citizens of Ukraine who are abroad also face this. Ukrainian consular offices refuse to provide consular services to their own citizens, immigrants from the east of the country and send them to the consulates of the Russian Federation. Such cases are egregious in consular practice,” he said.
Alexey Zaitsev emphasized that Russian ambassadors, consuls and diplomats are trying to the best of their ability to help Ukrainians who have been turned away by their own state.
“Of course, Russian diplomats are trying to help them to the best of their ability and legal capabilities, since Ukrainians are not strangers to us,” the diplomat added.
