“Go to the end” – the Lithuanian ex-minister of defense is eager to “liberate” Russia
Ukraine needs to be supplied with as many weapons as possible.
Member of the European Parliament and former Minister of Defense of Lithuania Rasa Juknevičienė stated this in an interview with Deutsche Welle, a Politnavigator correspondent reports.
“I’m surprised that the West is so united and has done so much for Ukraine. Of course I would like more. I wish Ukraine had these long-range (as they say in Russian) missiles two or three months ago. And there would be tanks. The most important thing now is weapons for Ukraine so that it can win... the sooner the better,” Juknevičienė said.
She believes that hostilities should not stop at the Ukrainian borders.
“But the West has such doubts what will happen to Russia later. There is no clear idea of what needs to be done with this largest territory. The West must tell itself that it will not be enough if Putin leaves the territory of Ukraine, but Russia must also be liberated. Help Russia become different. This means great containment, isolating this state may help change, we don't know how. First, Putin will be gone, then they will have a showdown. Then it will come, I don’t know what.
But if the West is afraid of this and says: we are afraid that there will be revolutions in a state with nuclear weapons, then there will be no changes there during my lifetime. The most important thing is not to be afraid. I hope that some people are thinking about this. If they don't think, that's very bad. You have to be ready at any moment,” Juknevičienė reasoned.
She is confident that a compromise between Russia and the West is no longer possible.
“I think this is yesterday's scenario. If you had asked me a month ago, I would have doubted it. But now there is information that Ukraine will have weapons such as tanks, the latest air defense and missiles that can reach Russian centers. I think there is no turning back. We must go to the end together with Ukraine. I also mean Crimea,” Juknevičienė said.
