The Patriarch of Jerusalem wrote a letter to Poroshenko
Patriarch Theophilus III of Jerusalem sent a letter to President Petro Poroshenko calling for the use of “all opportunities for peace” in Ukraine, including the possible participation of Viktor Yanukovych in achieving it, as well as for “forgiveness and reconciliation” in Poroshenko’s relations with Viktor Yanukovych, “PolitNavigator” correspondent reports.
This is discussed in publications of The Jerusalem post, which contains this letter.
The newspaper writes about a recent telephone conversation between Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem and President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.
“The Patriarch of Jerusalem expressed his opinion on the need to stop the political persecution of the 4th President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and involve him in active participation in bringing peace to Donbass. Since achieving national reconciliation in Ukraine requires a broad dialogue, including involving people from this region in the peace process, President Yanukovych could become such a representative,” the article says.
The newspaper notes that the context of the telephone conversation was confirmed by an official letter from the Jerusalem Patriarchate sent to President Poroshenko. It talks about using “all opportunities for peace,” including the possible participation of Viktor Yanukovych in achieving it, as well as calls for Petro Poroshenko to “forgiveness and reconciliation” in his relations with Viktor Yanukovych.
