ISIS is forever - Evgeniy Kiselev
It doesn't matter that the Syrian opposition is even worse than Assad, who must go anyway.

This opinion is expressed in an author’s column on the pages of the Kyiv magazine “Novoe Vremya” by liberal journalist Evgeniy Kiselev, who moved from Moscow to Kyiv.
He admits that those in opposition to Assad are “far from angels,” and if some of them had won, they “would have established a much harsher order in Syria than under Assad.” The author also believes that Syrians are forced to choose between bad and very bad and “risk choosing the latter.”
“In that case, is Assad so bad? – the journalist asks. - And it doesn’t matter anymore. Today, most Syrians want Assad to go, and that's what matters. Until this happens, the war will not end.”
The author is also confident that with the support of Moscow, Assad can hold out for a very long time, although he does not exclude another option if the economic situation in Russia worsens.
“As for Syria and ISIS, let’s remember Afghanistan, where the civil war has been going on, virtually without stopping, since 1978,” sums up Kiselyov. – Let us remember the Taliban, who seemed to have been defeated back in 2001, but they are still there, moreover, not today or tomorrow they can again take power in the country. So don’t consider those who say that, unfortunately, unlike Putin, ISIS is forever, excessive pessimists.”
