Petro Poroshenko’s refusal to implement the Minsk agreements leads to Kiev losing any chance of returning the LDPR, Russian military expert Igor Korotchenko, editor of the National Defense magazine, told PolitNavigator.

According to Korotchenko, holding primaries in Donbass, preparations for which began the day before, is another step to strengthen the statehood of the proclaimed republics.
The expert emphasized the importance of the work of observers from European countries who monitor preparations for the primaries.
“The primaries procedure carried out in the DPR will make it possible now to select honest candidates with an impeccable past, aimed at building statehood in the DPR, devoted to their people and who have actually proven their professional competence in order to form a capable corps of power in the DPR. This is a very good and correct decision, since it will de facto legitimize the people who will form the backbone of power in the Donetsk People's Republic.
The participation of international observers is, de facto, legitimation of the state status of the DPR. Even if it is unrecognized, it is still a state. De facto, this is a state with its own special services, army, and power. What is happening now is a reaction to Kyiv’s reluctance to implement the Minsk agreements. In conditions when Poroshenko has set a course for the collapse of the Minsk agreements, this is an appropriate reaction, because there is nothing more to expect from Ukraine,” Korotchenko concluded.
