The court ordered Guzhva not to leave Kiev without the permission of the investigator, prosecutor or court, to inform about the change of place of residence and to hand over his foreign passport for the duration of this decision, which is set until October 1.
Let us recall that on July 29, Ukrainian journalist and entrepreneur Igor Guzhva left the Vesti Ukraine media holding, he sold his share of corporate rights in the holding and resigned from the post of editor-in-chief of the Vesti newspaper.
Security forces blocked the work of the publication several times under various pretexts, including in connection with the publication of newspapers from Slavyansk and Donetsk in April 2014, when active hostilities were taking place in the cities.
On June 18, Guzhva reported that the tax police had conducted searches at the holding’s office.
“Previously, the State Fiscal Service summoned 242 employees of the Vesti newspaper for questioning on a tax case fabricated a year ago, which actually collapsed last summer. Vesti Holding regards such an unprecedented mass summons for questioning of employees as an attempt to intimidate the editorial staff. Within the same logic, apparently, the current “search” is being carried out in the editorial office,” the editor-in-chief commented on that search.
