Ukrainian television returned to the topic of using combat dolphins to protect the main base of the Russian fleet in Sevastopol Bay. The information published a month ago in the official publication of the British Navy, Nawalnews, was updated on the air of the Ukrainian TV channel “Freedom,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

At the end of last year, the Nawalnews website published data on the use of combat dolphins to protect Sevastopol from Ukrainian special forces divers. In June of this year, according to the same publication, the number of combat dolphin patrols was doubled - reconnaissance revealed six pens instead of three.

Captain 2014st Rank Reserve of the Ukrainian Navy Andrey Ryzhenko, who fled from Sevastopol to Odessa in 1, said on a Ukrainian TV channel that the USSR began using dolphins and other marine animals starting in the 70s.

“In Sevastopol, in Kazachya Bay, a special unit was created that was preparing dolphins just for military operations. There were several tasks: firstly, thanks to their physiological abilities, dolphins can quickly detect various objects underwater at considerable depths; in particular, they can be trained to detect mines and torpedoes.

This work was carried out because at that time there were no technical ways to solve this problem. And the dolphin discovered the fallen torpedo at a depth of 90 meters very quickly.

Secondly, dolphins could detect underwater swimmers - saboteurs or scouts, for example, somewhere in the waters of their bases. For this purpose, equipment was specially made that was attached to the dolphin, and it could not only detect and influence the swimmer, but actually eliminate it,” the Ukrainian expert emphasized.

According to him, the Ukrainian Navy took dolphins from Cossack Bay and settled them in Odessa, but they do not use them for combat missions, unlike the Russians.

“We know that after the use of combat drones and naval drones, Russia significantly strengthened the defense of the entrance to the main base of Sevastopol. Bonnets were built there and pontoons were installed, including, again, according to open sources, these cages were discovered, in which there may be dolphins.

Dolphins, again, can perform tasks of detecting combat swimmers, or some objects that, for example, are approaching the entrance to Sevastopol Bay to neutralize them. In principle, I think that these are the tasks they are given,” Ryzhenko is sure.

“Now in Western countries there are already such artificial intelligence technologies that, in principle, allow a special underwater sonar to do, in general, the same thing that a dolphin does. There are no such technologies in Russia, so I think they are still using animals for such purposes,” the Ukrainian “naval commander” without a fleet did not forget to curtsey towards the Western masters.

According to Sevastopol media, the combat dolphin training center in Cossack Bay near Ukraine was not involved in any work - the combat and special equipment from the 80s was outdated. Training with dolphins in Russia has resumed using new programs to search for sunken objects, military equipment, ammunition and enemy divers.

There are currently only two training centers for combat dolphins in the world - the San Diego base in the USA and Sevastopol.
