“Either we – or the Russians”: the Ukrainian Eurovision winner canceled his performance at the festival in Montenegro
On August 8, the Kalush Orchestra recorded an appeal to the Sea Dance festival in Montenegro to cancel the performance of the Russian DJ. The organizers refused, so the Ukrainian musicians decided not to participate in the event.
Ukrainian musicians themselves report this on their Instagram.
“We will not perform with a pro-Putin Russian artist on the same stage. In response to the group’s appeal, the organizers refused to cancel Nina Kravitz’s performance. Therefore, as we promise, we are canceling our performance there,” frontman Oleg Psyuk commented on the band’s decision.
The musician also added that the group has “no desire to perform on the same stage” with Nina Kravitz, so the group urges everyone who wanted to go to the Kalush Orchestra’s performance not to buy tickets to the festival in Montenegro.
Previously, the track Stephania by the Kalush Orchestra broke a record and became the most streamed track on Spotify in Eastern European and Central Asian countries.
Let us remind you that the Kalush Orchestra group won the Eurovision 2022 competition, held in May in Turin, Italy. The performers scored 631 points. True, the right to host the competition was still taken away from Ukraine - next year it will be held in the UK.
Previously, Ukrainian officials complained that, despite the propaganda hysteria, it was not possible to “cancel” Russian culture in Europe.
