Illarionov: We are being deceived! Russia is not going to attack
Russia is not seeking a war with Ukraine, but Kiev’s implementation of the Minsk agreements.
Former adviser to the Russian President Andrei Illarionov, who emigrated to the United States, where he became a fierce critic of the Kremlin, stated this on the air of the talk show “Freedom of Speech by Savik Shuster,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Illarionov, the troops concentrated near the Ukrainian border will not be enough for an offensive.
“We need to read and listen to those we were talking about - Russian statesmen. What did Mr. Ryabkov say at these negotiations? Minsk agreements. What did Mr. Grushko say? Minsk agreements. What does Mr. Lavrov say? For the third time in the last four days - the Minsk agreements. What did Putin say in his conversation with Macron? Minsk agreements. They all demand only one thing, because they understand: the Minsk agreements are the liquidation of Ukraine’s sovereignty,” said the ex-adviser.
“This is exactly what Putin is trying to achieve, he understands that with military actions, purely military actions, he will get the opposite result... Today's operations aimed at establishing control over captured and occupied territory require a completely different number of troops. When they tell us that 100 thousand or 122 thousand, or 127 thousand, or tomorrow 175 thousand are able to wage a big war with the seizure of vast territories and establishing control over all of Ukraine or a significant part of Ukraine, they are deceiving us,” Illarionov concluded.
