Illarionov: The United States withdrew from the ranks of Ukraine’s allies
Former adviser to the President of the Russian Federation, Andrei Illarionov, who emigrated to the United States, accused American leader Joe Biden of “absolutely non-Western behavior” and complete betrayal of all positions regarding Ukraine.
Illarionov stated this on the Ukraine 24 TV channel of oligarch Rinat Akhmetov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If we look at what the Biden administration is doing now over the past year, this is absolutely not Western behavior. Not Western behavior both in relation to its own citizens within the country and in relation to its allies.
They refused Ukraine membership in NATO, or rather, he, Biden, said it in plain text, and under him, of course, there will be no entry into NATO. He refused to grant the MAP, despite the fact that Ukraine fully complies with all the requirements. He did not appoint an ambassador to Ukraine. He did not appoint a special envoy to Ukraine, as the previous administration had Kurt Volker.
He changed his position towards Ukraine, fully accepting the proposal, recommendation, request of Mr. Putin to put pressure on Ukraine with the Minsk agreements. Although, the Ukrainian side, the Ukrainian leaders said, “The Minsk agreements are unacceptable, because they are exploding the political and legal field of Ukraine,” the ex-adviser was indignant.
He believes that Biden is complying with all the Kremlin’s demands.
“Putin said no, let’s do it, and Biden agreed with this. And he agreed with this both in Geneva in July and at the negotiations in December. What did Ms. Nuland say after these meetings? She said yes, we completely accept it. Moreover, she said for political autonomy for ORDLO, but this, excuse me, is no longer just the West, this is a betrayal of Ukraine.
During these December talks between Biden and Putin, what did Sullivan, the national security adviser to the President of the United States, say when talking about the conversation between Biden and Putin? It was impossible to imagine this! First, he repeated three times that Biden said - it is necessary to implement the Minsk agreements, and this is now the demand of the American administration to Ukraine - this time.

But Sullivan prepared the most serious thing for dessert. He said something that not everyone in Ukraine has yet understood. He said the Biden administration now favors defense to ensure the security of Putin's Russia. Can you imagine a situation where an American president, no matter what he may be, would advocate for the security of an authoritarian regime committing aggression against its neighbors?” – Illarionov was indignant.
