They shouted “Fascists!”: Serbian Maidan protesters blocked the streets in the center of Belgrade
Supporters of the opposition Union for Serbia, led by the leader of the Doors party, Boško Obradović, blocked the entrance to the Belgrade city parliament at 10 a.m. on Thursday, demanding a meeting with the mayor under the pretext of fighting to preserve the historical appearance of the Serbian capital.
There was a verbal altercation between Maidan workers and city hall employees who tried to push the gathered demonstrators away from the building. “Fascists, fascists! Shame on you! - the women shouted.
Two elderly participants in the confrontation became ill, local newspaper Blic reports.
Maidan activists declared their opponents “bots” of the Serbian Progressive Party, led by President Aleksandar Vucic, whose overthrow the demonstrators are seeking.
From parliament, protesters against the authorities reached Republic Square, which is under reconstruction, where construction fences were dismantled. The hoodlums then took them to the country's main electronic media organization, REM. There the action ended.
The streets along which the few protesters walked were blocked, which led to traffic congestion and indignation among drivers.
Today's action in Serbia is further proof that the events in this republic are similar to the scenario of the recent coup d'etat in Ukraine - Euromaidan, carried out with the support of the West.
One of the main areas of criticism of the Ukrainian Maidan activists against the authorities was the destruction of the historical appearance of Kyiv - thus, the opposition seized the construction site and blocked the reconstruction of Gostiny Dvor in Podol.
Subsequently, one of the main organizers of the Kyiv actions, “social activist” Igor Lutsenko, became a militant of the Nazi punitive battalion “Azov”, and soon received the status of a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada.
