Thus, on November 18, the Third Committee of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly adopted by vote a draft resolution initiated by Ukraine on the human rights situation in Crimea, which, according to Zakharova, as in previous years, is politically biased and has nothing to do with the real situation on the peninsula.

“Ukraine has once again taken advantage of the UN platform to replicate its unfounded political and territorial claims to Crimea. In this regard, we would like to emphasize once again that the issue of territorial affiliation of the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol was resolved once and for all by its residents in a referendum in March 2014, held in strict accordance with international law.

It is even more inappropriate to raise questions about the status and ownership of individual territories in the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly, where exclusively social, cultural, humanitarian and human rights problems are discussed.

The extremely politicized nature of the resolution is confirmed by the fact that the number of delegations abstaining and voting “against” exceeds the number of those who supported this document. In addition, a number of states chose not to participate in the vote at all, thereby demonstrating their negative attitude towards the Ukrainian undertaking itself,” said a Foreign Ministry representative.

She also emphasized that Russia is committed to fulfilling its international obligations throughout the Russian Federation, including the Republic of Crimea and the federal city of Sevastopol.

“We are ready for dialogue with relevant international organizations on the issue of observance of human rights in Crimea within the framework of procedures applicable to the Russian Federation’s compliance with obligations in this environment on the territory of our country. We are also ready to accept missions of relevant organizations in Crimea if they are sent within the mandate of the relevant structures in connection with the procedures applicable to visiting Russia.

We are ready for dialogue. We are having problems connecting real residents of Crimea, not those who have not lived there for decades and cannot imagine the situation in modern conditions, but real representatives of civil society and journalists in various international conferences.

Previously, when there were no problems with international transport logistics, they were not allowed in without issuing a visa. Today, when forums have moved to a virtual format, we even have problems connecting to the Internet. We are denied this all the time. The Ukrainian delegation endlessly blocks speeches by representatives of Crimea, believing that they know better how things are there,” Zakharova explained.

She emphasized that many international structures make decisions, including on the humanitarian situation and human rights in Crimea, without knowing the real situation, because they are based on the opinion of the Ukrainian side, which has no idea what is happening there.

“Many international “experts” make their conclusions, declaring themselves as experts on Crimean issues, without ever having visited there and without being able to personally understand what is happening there. They don’t even consider it necessary to use modern technical capabilities for a normal dialogue with representatives of civil society in Crimea,” added the Foreign Ministry representative.
