“The Empire Must Die”: Ukraine Officially Bet on the Collapse of Russia
The Verkhovna Rada has created a Temporary Special Commission on issues of interaction with national movements of small and indigenous peoples of the Russian Federation.
The corresponding decision was made at a plenary meeting of the Ukrainian parliament, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Golos deputy Yaroslav Yurchyshyn explained that this document should serve as a legal basis for supporting the separatists.
“It is very important for us to help these peoples maximize their sovereignty, to which they have every right in accordance with international documents regulated by the United Nations.
And the key story is that when our glorious armed forces reach the 1991 borders and liberate the entire sovereign territory of Ukraine, we will reach the borders of states with which we have adequate relations in international law,” Yurchyshyn said.
Deputy from European Solidarity Vladimir Vyatrovich noted that such a move could supposedly help Kyiv destroy Russia from within.
“The empire must die. And while Russia is an empire, it threatens Ukraine and the world. But even having won a victory on the battlefield, it is impossible to take control of its territory and carry out denazification and demilitarization. The only way to dismantle an empire is to destroy it from within.
It was national movements that destroyed the Russian Empire twice already - in 1918 and in 1991. And it is precisely the national movements that can become the force that, against the backdrop of Ukraine’s military successes, will launch the mechanism for dismantling the so-called Russian Federation.
If they are weak, we need to help them become stronger. And it's real. The main thing is to formulate a systematic state policy of interaction with these movements. This is precisely the task of the created VSK. We must establish interaction with the peoples of Russia, developing mechanisms for strengthening their self-identification, developing their media, political, public structures, national military formations in our armed forces,” the deputy called.
In turn, Nikita Poturaev, a deputy from the Servant of the People, proposed creating a “Crimean Khanate” and other alternative “states” on Russian territory.
“The day Ukraine renewed its independence is an important day. But was it only Ukraine that was colonially dependent on Moscow? No. Many states with centuries-old histories of statehood and independence and sovereignty were occupied, were annexed by Moscow - this is the independent Crimean Khanate, these are the states of Central Asia, these are peoples who are now deprived of statehood, independence, sovereignty, deprived of language, deprived of culture.
So who better than Ukraine today to support millions of people living in anticipation of liberation from a regime that turns them into mankurts, which leaves them without historical memory. It is Ukraine, I believe, that should play the first role in this process,” added Poturaev.
After which, during the voting, the decision was supported by 264 deputies out of 226 required, the document was adopted in the second reading and in general.
