“Is it possible to bring 1 million tons from South Africa, and do it quickly? - he says. - I think it's a bluff. First of all, because there are no deep-water sites in Ukrainian ports for receiving coal, there are no warehouses there, there are deep-water sites for shipping metal and iron ore from these ports, this is a completely different technology, this is shipping, not receiving, these are not coal warehouses . Can we import from the USA? The price of American coal on FOB terms may be $95 per ton. At this price, delivering it by ocean in small ships with a displacement of 30-40 thousand tons will be very expensive. It's almost the same as carrying buckets. This will be golden coal. It would be better if our government didn’t bluff and told the population the truth, and they thought about what needs to be done.”
At the same time, the government is doing nothing to use the types of fuel that Ukraine still has.
“We have large reserves of brown coal. No finger was touched. They are even too lazy to talk about the fact that this type of fuel could be used. There are other types of fuel - firewood and everything that can be used for their use. It would be necessary to provide for the allocation of finances, loans, to give the business the opportunity to realize itself,” the expert believes.
There is only one hope - warm weather. “We will hope that there will be a warm winter,” says Volynets.
