“Impotence”, “They didn’t care” – Lavrov complains about the OSCE and the USA
NATO and the United States are pointedly ignoring Russia's security problems.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated this today at the Primakov Readings international forum, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“They didn’t care about formulas and dilemmas. We say: NATO's decision infringes on our security. And they answer us: you simply don’t understand anything. Kirby (official representative of the US State Department - ed.) said the other day: we don’t see any reasons that Russia could use to justify the fact that it is under threat from something. And when American missiles are fired at Russian cities, this does not threaten us in any way? When they say: we give Ukraine only defensive weapons and do not advise shelling Russian territory, as we recognize it. And how to communicate with these people? – said Lavrov.
The same processes, in his opinion, are taking place in the OSCE.
“Of course, the impotence of the OSCE. It, represented by its chairmen and the current Secretary General, pays practically no attention to guarantees of the security of individual countries. The Polish minister, who now heads the OSCE, said that the principle of consensus on which the OSCE is based is immutable, but now it is difficult to apply, so we have moved to temporary measures. This means a very simple thing: when they decided to use the OSCE to completely follow the Western line regarding what is happening around Ukraine, they understood that there would be no consensus.
OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (in Donbass - ed.) by definition cannot exist. They asked for the transport of this mission, which was located on Russian territory: give it to us, we will give it to Ukraine. You have to have a very specific sense of humor to make such requests,” Lavrov said.
He recalled how terrorists from Tajikistan were allowed to attend OSCE events, but NGOs from Crimea could not attend. The minister believes that many OSCE projects in Ukraine are actually funded by the United States. Lavrov called all these phenomena “mine that the Poles are laying under the OSCE».
