Crimean Minister of Fuel and Energy Sergei Egorov announced this at a press conference in Simferopol on Wednesday.
“It was not the company itself that was nationalized, but its property. Now a temporary administration has been appointed there, which is conducting an inventory. We planned to finish it by February 1 of this year, but we don’t have time, so we are thinking of extending it for another month,” the minister noted.
According to him, DTEK’s property is in terrible condition:
“The company did not meet the expectations of citizens in providing them with light. There are a number of reasons for this. For example, inept upper and middle management. The problems that arose on the lines were eliminated very slowly. An example of this is the power outage in Crimea on December 26th. When Ukraine restored supply, operators had to quickly distribute the load among consumers, but did this only after two and a half hours. In general, all the company's property is in terrible condition. Over the three years that the company maintained the networks, the number of faulty cables increased, for example, in Yalta and Simferopol several times. What is this connected with? Yes, at least with the fact that the company’s monthly turnover was one and a half billion, and investments in restoring networks were 700 million a year,” said Sergei Egorov.
