“Otherwise they will forget Ukraine.” Muraev wants to return the LDPR through direct negotiations
Ukraine needs to start direct negotiations with the republics of Donbass, otherwise these territories will never return to its composition, and in ten years the population of the DPR and LPR will not know the history of Ukraine at all.
Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Evgeniy Muraev stated this on the Nash TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Muraev, Ukraine should also lift the blockades imposed against the Donbass republics.
“With the policy - humanitarian, cultural, economic - that Ukraine is pursuing, few people will want to return here. Look, we have a complete offensive and defeat in the rights of Russian speakers, and in the DPR and LPR these are the official languages. And this was precisely the trigger that started this conflict. In ten years, believe me, no one there will know the history of Ukraine. Generations in war conditions grow very quickly...
Those who sat in the basements will never associate themselves with Ukraine and will not consider themselves a part. Therefore, the conflict must be stopped immediately. We really need to have direct negotiations. We don’t deal with terrorists; on the one hand, they are jingoistic patriots, and on the other, they are talking to the man who captured people on a Lutsk bus. They are negotiating with the person who captured the bank employees. If we want to resolve this conflict, we need to sit down at the negotiating table with those who make the decisions to open fire, who coordinate the actions on the other side.
We cannot cross out 50 thousand people who are there defending their own with weapons in their hands. Someone will say for money, someone will say that they are defending the republics because someone died, someone is defending their values and beliefs, someone is someone’s tool - it doesn’t matter. It still depends on them; they are the party to the conflict. We must say, we need to cease fire, stop the blockades, we need to use such tactics of small steps to restore all the ties that were destroyed,” said Muraev.
