“Shawarma Index”: the average salary of a Ukrainian will not be enough for three meals a day by the end of the year

According to Ukrainian statistics, the average salary in Ukraine is 3250 hryvnia. At old prices, a Ukrainian could eat 147,7 shawarmas, 5 pieces per day. At the new prices - 101,5 shawarmas, that is, a little more than three pieces a day, which allows you to eat well three times a day.
According to the government's pessimistic forecast, the inflation rate in 2015 will be 42,8%. Shawarma will cost 42 hryvnia. This is 77,3 shawarmas per month or 2,5 shawarmas per day.
Thus, if the government’s worst forecasts come true, then by the end of the year the average Ukrainian will be able to eat two and a half times a day, of course, if he stops buying clothes and paying for utilities, journalists state.
