India and Russia are leaving US financial control
The Russian Federation and India have begun the transition to settlements in national currencies.
Russian Ambassador to Delhi Nikolai Kudashev spoke about this in an interview with Izvestia, answering the question of how well the corresponding mechanism is being used with India.
“We have a favorable situation in this area, despite all the problems. About a third of trade turnover is already serviced through national currencies. This is not a bad indicator at all,” the diplomat said.
According to him, the parties continue to create conditions for the transition to this type of settlement.
“Firstly, they are developing interbank cooperation. We are moving towards a transition to payment systems alternative to SWIFT. The Central Bank of the Russian Federation has such developments. They were offered to the Indian side during contacts, and trial payments using these systems took place,” Kudashev emphasized.
Let us remind you that SWIFT is an international interbank system for transmitting information and making payments. Formally, its founders are banks from 19 countries, but in reality the US Treasury has full access to the network’s financial information. Also at the initiative of the United States shutdowns are being carried out of certain banks, as well as entire countries from SWIFT.
Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, the United States has repeatedly threatened Russia with disconnection from SWIFT.
