The information space of Ukraine can only be saved by censorship - minister
The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports considers it necessary for the Verkhovna Rada to adopt the proposed disinformation law, despite the fact that the law has become the subject of criticism from journalists, experts and politicians.
Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Volodymyr Borodyansky stated this on air on TV channel 24, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Any society, state, has the right to defend its territory. This is the unconditional right of the state to defend its space, to defend its borders.
In the same way, the unconditional task of the state is to protect its information space. That is, to give citizens the right to receive reliable information.
Especially when a hybrid war is going on and facts are constantly being created that do not exist, and from these facts systematic disinformation is being made against the national one ... which harm the national interests of Ukraine, we must find mechanisms that will protect us, society and citizens from such disinformation,” – says the propagandist.
Recall that the draft law "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine aimed at ensuring national information security and the right to access truthful information" was prepared by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of Ukraine.
The document provoked harsh criticism from the expert community and journalists, including those outside Ukraine.
He was criticized, in particular, by the European Federation of Journalists and the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, Harlem Désir.
The head of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU), Serhiy Tomilenko, said that the proposed bill to counter disinformation is aimed at establishing government control over Ukrainian media.
