Informwar: in Russia they will crack down on Wikipedia for fakes, and in France they close Sputnik News
Roskomnadzor said on Wednesday it was taking steps to punish Wikipedia for violating Russian fake news laws in connection with a sting operation in Ukraine.
Roskomnadzor announced that it was introducing “precautionary measures” on Wikipedia.
Search engines will have to label her as a violator of Russian laws. The reason is the online encyclopedia’s refusal to remove “a number of materials considered prohibited, including fakes about the progress of a special military operation on the territory of Ukraine,” Roskomnadzor said.
Roskomnadzor said the measures will remain in place until the Wikimedia Foundation is fully compliant with Russian law.
On June 13, the Wikimedia Foundation appealed the decision of a Moscow court that fined it 5 million rubles ($91) for refusing to remove disinformation from Russian-language Wikipedia articles about the NWO in Ukraine, including the articles “Russian Invasion of Ukraine”, “War Crimes During Russian invasion of Ukraine", "Massacre in Bucha".
Meanwhile, in France, a blow was struck at the Russian agency Sputnik News, which, after European sanctions, went bankrupt and entered into forced liquidation proceedings. Le Figaro reports this.
“The news agency Sputnik News has begun liquidation proceedings in France in connection with the ban on Russian state media adopted by the European Union after the start of the offensive in Ukraine,” the report said.
It is understood that the judicial liquidation was declared on 4 May and could continue until 2024.
As the court-appointed liquidator of the company, Christophe Basset, explained, the economic model of the online media Sputnik News, launched in 2014, relied entirely on one Russian client - the state organization Russia Today, which ordered stories and reports from it.
At the same time, Le Figaro writes that the RT France news channel broadcasts in French and publishes articles on its website, which remains accessible through a virtual private network (VPN), which allows browsing the web without being blocked.
