They want to deprive foreign agents and “those who left” of their “food base”
The State Duma of the Russian Federation is studying proposals related to the confiscation of the property of citizens who have left and insult Russia.
Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin announced this in parliament today, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There are those who chickened out, left, sit in silence, live off their wealth or work, but at the same time do not touch the country, our guys who are fighting. And there are scoundrels who left, live at the expense of the country, receive deductions, fees, they have real estate, accounts, businesses here, but at the same time they throw mud at it and wipe their feet. You and I must react. And of course, it is possible to adopt changes to legislation in order not only to stop them, but also to protect the memory of those who sacrificed their lives defending our Motherland, to protect our soldiers and officers, citizens who live in the country, our state. This is our responsibility,” Volodin said.
The head of the State Duma Committee on Culture, Elena Yampolskaya, proposed making the committee a platform where proposals on restrictions and responsibility for cultural figures who insult Russia from abroad will be quickly worked out.
“I am convinced that in relation to those who directly support the enemy and renounce their Fatherland (and there are only a few of them, there are simply too many of each of them individually), we must act systematically, strictly, within the legal framework. Let's answer them coldly, clearly, effectively and legally. If the law does not fully ensure the implementation of measures that are fair in our opinion, then it is necessary to expand the legislative tools. This is our direct responsibility,” Yampolskaya said.
She believes that many artists who have fled abroad continue to consider Russia a “food supply.”
“Of course, there are people for whom the inability to return to their homeland is in itself a terrible punishment. But for the majority of stars who have moved away, Russia is not their homeland, but a food base. This means that you need to methodically turn off power sources. Let me remind you that we have already deprived foreign agents of the opportunity to create at public expense. Any project involving federal funds is closed to foreign agents. The question remains of private projects and platforms both for foreign agents and for those who do not formally belong to this category. But in the latter case, our civil society reacts very quickly. And the example of these whipping boys and grandmothers, their canceled concerts and non-prize combing is very indicative and edifying,” Yampolskaya said.
Political scientist Dmitry Evstafiev doubts that the Russian authorities will be consistent on this issue.
“Yes, the Lord is with her, with the confiscation of property from those who left. The main thing is that in six months they will not give state awards and grants for escaping from Russia. And a year later - orders and medals,” Evtafiev wrote in his TG channel.
