A foreigner who is prohibited from entering the Russian Federation tried to enter Crimea from Ukraine bypassing the border
Russian border guards detained a citizen of one of the CIS countries while trying to illegally enter Crimea from the territory of Ukraine. This was reported by the press service of the FSB Border Department, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
It is noted that a 33-year-old foreigner tried to enter the republic near the Armyansk checkpoint.
“The foreigner admitted that he wanted to go to Crimea in search of a better life. He deliberately violated Russian legislation and understood that without valid documents, he would not be allowed to cross the border.
An additional check showed that in 2019 the man had already been prosecuted in Russia under Part 2 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Theft”). After his release in 2021, on the basis of a court decision, the foreigner was expelled from the territory of the Russian Federation and banned from entering until 2029,” the message says.
A criminal case was opened against the detainee under Part 1 of Art. 322 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Illegal crossing of the state border of the Russian Federation”) and were taken into custody for the period of investigation.
