Deputy Minister of Justice of Ukraine Anton Yanchuk announced this at today's briefing.
“The Ministry of Justice is providing support to 19 legal disputes with the participation of Ukraine and foreign investors and is working on pre-trial mediation on 21 claims against the state of Ukraine. Now the total amount of claims in disputes and court cases is about UAH 170 billion,” noted Mr. Yanchuk.
He clarified that in 2015, the amount of claims increased due to the addition of claims from Russian companies whose assets in Ukraine were illegally taken away, as well as due to the so-called “deoligarchization.” For example, it is a known fact that the Yatsenyuk government twice illegally confiscated in its favor gas purchased and pumped into storage by Dmitry Firtash’s structures for the needs of its industrial enterprises.
According to him, in 2014 the total amount of claims against Ukraine was about UAH 30 billion, and in 2013 – about UAH 20 billion.
Thus, in the year after the Maidan, the amount of claims against Ukraine regarding the collection of private debts increased almost six times - to 170 billion.
The official kept silent about the prospects for a positive resolution of these legal disputes for Ukraine.
