Foreign journalists in Crimea dispelled the myth of the invincibility of Western propaganda
Hollywood productions for Western media demonstrating the “atrocities” of the Russian military in Ukraine are fading away - the money is simply running out. All liberal nonsense disappears after a visit to the front line and communication with local residents.
Foreign bloggers and journalists spoke about this at a press conference in Simferopol following the results of a press tour to Crimea, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
As US blogger John Mark Dugan said, he first encountered distortion of information during the 2014 All-Crimean referendum. American channels broadcast about military pressure on Crimeans, and Dugan’s friend sent a greeting card from Crimea with a referendum in response to an offer of assistance in evacuation.
“Western propaganda also has a strong influence on Russians. I invited one of the representatives of the liberal movement with me on a trip to Donbass. We arrived at the front, and on the contact line this man was able to communicate with the people sitting in the basements. This greatly changed his point of view. And even on the way back, he stuck a “Z” on the window of our car,” Dugan said.
Greek journalist Dimitros Lyatsos added that due to an objective assessment of events in 2014, he lost his job on state television after he said live on air that Crimea had returned to its native harbor, while all media in the West followed the general line about annexation.
“The events in Crimea became a milestone that ripped off the masks from the so-called Western journalism, progressive and democratic, in which many in Russia believed so much. Therefore, now the journalists who were in Kyiv or Odessa, when I asked what you were up to, explained it very simply: what do you want? We arrive in Kyiv, they pick us up. A special unit for information processing and virtually everything is under the control of the SBU. And Mariupol with a bombed maternity hospital, and Bucha - this is a Hollywood production! When I said this on air, a short commentary came out in Ukrainian, saying that the Greek was ruining the whole story for us. Good people from Kyiv sent it to me. And the answer is that Arestovich is aware.
Therefore, news is a matter that is being done, being prepared. This is a Hollywood story. But it is already on the decline because there are not enough funds. And this is the foundation on which you and I can work to slowly turn the situation around. State streaming media change very easily today, so tomorrow they can speak completely differently,” Lyatsos is sure.
