“The law establishes a ban for foreign and international non-governmental organizations, whose activities are recognized as undesirable, to create legal entities on the territory of the Russian Federation and participate in their activities. This is one of the serious measures to combat terrorism and extremism,” said deputy Yevgeny Marchenko, rapporteur on the issue.

Currently, there are 7 positions on the list of organizations whose activities in the Russian Federation are recognized as undesirable: OSI Assistance Foundation, Open Society Foundation, American-Russian Foundation for Economic and Legal Development ( US RUSSIA FOUNDATION FOR ECONOMIC ADVANCEMENT AND THE RULE OF LAW), National Democratic Institute of International Relations, MEDIA DEVELOPMENT INVESTMENT FUND, Inc., International Republican Institute Corporation.
