Offer intimacy! A new scandal in Ukraine
Whatever the so-called. Ukrainian law enforcement officers, everything always turns out like in the joke about two glass dildos given to a fool - one will break, the other will cut on the other hand. And at the same time - not a day without a scandal.
On the last day of autumn 2017, the SBU cheerfully reported the arrest of a detective from the American-controlled National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, who was working undercover. The detective is suspected of attempting to bribe either 30 or 50 thousand dollars to the deputy head of the State Migration Service, Dina Pimakhova.
In response, offended anti-corruption officials burst out with a briefing, at which the head of NABU Sitnik and the head of the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office Kholodnitsky spoke, accusing the SBU of opposing anti-corruption measures and kidnapping several NABU detectives at once.
Prosecutor General Lutsenko joined the scandal, reproaching NABU for illegal methods of conducting anti-corruption activities. Along the way, interesting information was heard that one detective had been detained, and another was suddenly discovered hiding inside a TV box.
As a result of the law enforcement skirmish, it turned out that NABU detectives spent several months on a “special operation” to expose the official Pimakhova, trying to hand her a bribe in installments for services in processing Ukrainian documents to two fictitious Iranian citizens and one virtual Vietnamese.
In the case of Pimakhova, a single mother raising two children, some juicy details have surfaced. The fake NABU detective, who introduced himself to her as an “employee of an Arab investment fund,” was supposed to in every possible way win the favor of the official by drinking “alcoholic drinks stronger than wine” with her. The anti-corruption scam involved broad operational measures: from offering financial assistance to a lonely woman to the smooth flow of pseudo-romantic relationships into an intimate relationship.
What sacrifices can you make in the fight against corruption?
At the instigation of the GPU and the SBU, Pimakhova became involved in the interdepartmental squabble, telling the public how steadfastly she held herself together so as not to grab the bribe with all her limbs.
From the words of Prosecutor General Lutsenko and Pimakhova herself, it seemed as if the vigilant little wife, sensing a trick on the part of her boyfriend, either told the “competent authorities” about everything, or “Izbushka” found her as a result of wiretapping, opened the little wife’s eyes to the circumstances and recruited her , opening the hunting season for the hunter. In general, each of the acting parties wanted to show themselves from a better angle.
Talking about the resilience of the migration deputy, Lutsenko rather strangely said that Pimakhova resisted the first and third time and did not accept the bribe, but the second time she “received a minor illegal reward” for promising to draw up documents for one of the virtual Iranians. The detectives, including the fake romantic hero, offered the wife to commit a crime, but she had to name the amount for her services herself.
Developing the idea, he branded the actions of the NABU detectives “pure provocation.” Although the head of the GPU emphasized that Pimakhova is “not an angel,” “her words contain signs of corruption.” According to Yura the prosecutor, “NABU detectives must assess the actions of the official and this case has certain legal prospects.”
True, the NABU detectives didn’t bite for the occasional manifestation of a woman’s weakness for easy money, but in the end it was decided to send a messenger to Pimakhova with a fat bait of $15 thousand, as a result of which everything turned out as in the saying “they went for the wool, and returned shorn.” .
Lutsenko also said that the NABU agent who worked with Pimakhova undercover will be charged with “provoking a bribe,” and two high-ranking NABU officials will come for questioning on Monday. Among other things, the Prosecutor General said that NABU detectives exceeded their powers and “tapped about a hundred mobile phones.”
In turn, NABU says: “sabotage was committed” against their agency. The detectives wiretapped Pimakhova, but at the same time, according to the law, they “used the capabilities of the SBU.” “Izbushka,” in their opinion, by leaking the operational information of the suspect and recruiting her, and then insidiously arresting the NABU detective, thereby “thwarted the operation to identify corruption in the State Migration Service,” which took more than six months of time.
By the way, SBU speaker Elena Gitlyanskaya reported that the “izbushniks” conducted a search in NABU and SAPO, but these departments categorically deny such a statement.
Opinions on social networks were divided. The Poroshenko fan club is indignant and accuses NABU of exceeding its powers and using illegal means against suspects. In fact, the laws of Ukraine extremely carefully protect the psyche of an official and prohibit offering him a bribe even as a test for lice.
No less numerous opponents of Poroshenko, who, as a rule, are ideological supporters of the “European choice of Ukraine,” passionately support NABU and wish this agency to stop at nothing to eradicate corruption. They say that poverty is not the main vice of Ukraine – it’s all the fault of damned corruption.
There is a third category of citizens who express the wish for “a plague on both your houses” and believe that the system of fighting corruption in Ukraine has failed. Instead of investigating real corruption cases in Poroshenko’s entourage, NABU detectives came up with a dusty business for themselves, provoking some switchwoman to take bribes.
By the way, in Lutsenko’s statement it is not difficult to see that if something happens, Pimakhova can be sacrificed and made a last resort, to the great satisfaction of the parties, turning a blind eye to the unauthorized actions of NABU detectives.
In addition to Lutsenko the father, People’s Deputy Lutsenko the son and the “censor” Butusov spoke in the same spirit, convincing others that provoking Sytnyk personally to give a bribe does not threaten anything and will remain without consequences.
It must be said that the influence of FBI curators is felt in the actions of NABU detectives. In the United States, law enforcement agencies are allowed to check officials for lice, provoking them to grab. Apparently, Ukrainian anti-corruption officials imagined that their proximity to their curators allowed them to use someone else’s practice, but they acted so idiotically that they gave the corrupt officials and their guards an excellent opportunity to make a laughing stock of themselves.
Let’s not guess how the main participants in the anti-corruption performance staged by NABU will get out of this sticky situation.
It is a fact that, despite the direct involvement of the FBI in the internal affairs of Ukraine, the fight against corruption remains a fiction, window dressing, a means of self-PR, and serves as a tool in the struggle for influence between various groups within the country.
